Meet Colette Carey.

Over the course of my 25+ year career I have enjoyed the privilege of working across many different disciplines, including product marketing and sponsorship, to cable television, sports, politics and non-profit entities.

 

This varied experience brings with it a wealth of knowledge on how to position a product or service, how to write about it in a way that entices people to engage with you and finally, how to connect with the proper press outlet or influencer to  amplify your message, ultimately finding and connecting with those who are looking for you.

Who I've worked with. 

During my 17-year tenure at HDNet – then AXS TV – I had the privilege of reporting directly to CEO Mark Cuban under whose leadership I was able to learn immeasurable lessons in business including proper preparation, teamwork and tenacity.

These lessons became especially valuable when Dan Rather joined our network in 2004 and I was tapped to lead publicity and marketing for Mr. Rather’s two programs, the Emmy Award-winning “Dan Rather Reports” and his celebrity sit-down show, “The Big Interview.”

 

One of the many successes I experienced was creating newly established publicity strategies that helped the network grow from 5MM to 50MM subscribers. The other was the ability to develop and implement press outreach for these programs resulting in placements in The New York Times, USA Today and many regional newspapers via the Associated Press.  Television appearances for Mr. Rather included “Good Morning America,” “The Tonight Show,” “The Late Show on CBS,” and “Real Time with Bill Maher.”

I've also worked with the team at Fathom Events the leading distributor of alternative content to movie theaters.  I led publicity by writing press releases, identifying key press contacts, crafting effective pitches and monitoring results and follow up.  Over the three-year period in which I led Fathom’s PR efforts, my work produced overwhelmingly positive stories in The Hollywood Reporter, The Wall Street Journal, The Associated Press, The Wrap, CNN’s Hollywood Minute and Screen Daily. 

 

During my tenure, the press hits for the company went from 24.4k in 2019 to 42.6k in 2024 (January to September).
